Q: Are your products gluten free?
A: Hemp seed is naturally gluten-free however cross-contamination can happen in the field and during handling, transportation and storage. To ensure that our products are gluten free, regular gluten testing is performed to guarantee that the gluten content is <20ppm which is the acceptable amount by both the World Health Organization (WHO) and Health Canada for a gluten-free claim.

Q: What is considered to be a raw ingredient?
A: The definition of “Raw” varies depending on who you ask. In general, in order to be considered as a raw ingredient, the product cannot be heated to temperatures above 100°F - 117°F (38°C - 48°C). All of our products are raw.

Q: Do your products contain any known allergens?
A: There are no known allergens found in hemp foods and all of our products are produced in a hemp-dedicated, allergen-free facility.

Q: Do I need to refrigerate your products?
A: For maximum freshness, opened hemp products should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Q: What is the shelf life of Just Hemp Food’s products?
A: We guarantee our hulled hemp seeds, toasted salted hemp seeds and 50% hemp protein powder stay fresh for a shelf life of 14 months, unopened. Once opened, we recommend consuming them within 3-6 months for maximum freshness and quality.
Our hemp seed oil has a shelf life of 9 months unopened. Once opened we recommend consuming the oil within 3-4 months, and storing it in a dry cool place.
However there is no reason to stop consuming the product if it still smells and tastes fresh. Our products have been known to taste and smell fresh for over 2 years when stored correctly.
The best way to store hemp food products is in a cool, dry, dark place. Heat, sunlight and humidity can cause the products to go bad, so ideally the fridge or freezer is best.

Q: Are your products safe for pregnant women?
A: Yes. Hulled hemp seeds contain numerous nutritional benefits, including vitamin B6 and folic acid, so it is a safe and delicious addition to expectant mothers’ diets.

Q: Are hulled hemp seeds safe for children?
A: Absolutely! Just remember to consider body weight when determining serving size - much like you would with any other food. As a general guideline, cut the recommended serving size shown on each package by 1/3 or ½ depending on the child’s age and size.

Q: What is the difference between hemp and marijuana? Will I get high or fail a drug test if I eat your product?
A: Hemp and marijuana are both part of the cannabis plant family but are VERY different. Hemp is grown for industrial purposes, with different varieties of hemp to produce food, fiber and fuel.
Our high quality hulled hemp seeds are third party tested for THC and test under 10 ppm, in fact most are non-detectable at <4 ppm THC (0.0004%). These trace levels will NOT cause any psychoactive effect or cause a false positive drug screening test.
Basically, it is impossible to ingest enough hulled hemp seeds to build up the required THC level that would trigger a positive drug test.
